Minecraft scalpers stuck with $50,000 in TwitchCon capes tras códigos expire

Minecraft Crafter Cape resellers are being mocked tras the TwitchCon códigos passed their June 30 deadline, leaving dozens of eBay listings at risk.

Minecraft resellers are being mocked after dozens of high-priced TwitchCon Europe Crafter Cape codes failed to sell before Mojang’s official redemption deadline.

Por qué esta historia importa ahora

The Crafter Cape was introduced as an exclusive Minecraft cosmetic for TwitchCon Europe attendees in Rotterdam. Unlike standard online drops, the cape required players to complete an in-person quest at the event, collecting Emerald Stickers through Minecraft sessions and activities before taking a completed Inventory Ribbon to the Cape Trader for a physical Cape Card.

Minecraft’s own guide said the code then had to be entered at minecraft.net/redeem by June 30.

Qué puede pasar después

That deadline has now passed, and the official Minecraft redemption page still lists June 30, 2026 for both the Crafter Cape and the online Builder Cape codes.

Crafter Cape sellers mocked after deadline passes

On July 1, Minecraft creator Oli, known online as highkeyoli, posted that Crafter Cape codes had “OFFICIALLY EXPIRED,” claiming they had intentionally avoided publicizing the deadline too widely so resellers would not rush to offload their remaining stock.

According to the post, Oli tracked 119 unsold Crafter Cape listings with a combined buy-now value of $49,191. “Resellers lost LOL,” they wrote.

Multiple Crafter Cape listings were still active after the deadline, with prices ranging from $199 to $950. Others were listed at $300 to $699. Sold listings dated July 1 also show at least two purchases after the deadline, including one for $350 and another for $102.50.

The situation has been especially brutal because the Crafter Cape was already one of Minecraft’s rarer modern cosmetics. NameMC currently tracks just over 5,000 profiles with the Crafter Cape, though that number reflects profiles tracked on the site rather than a guaranteed total redemption count.

Still, there is some uncertainty over whether every unredeemed code has actually stopped working. Some players in the replies claimed that Minecraft promo codes can sometimes still be redeemed after their listed deadlines, while others warned that buying one now is a gamble.

Oli later urged players not to buy any listings, saying any cape advertised after June 30 should be treated as risky because Minecraft’s own website lists June 30 as the expiration date.

ModerLauncher could not independently verify whether all unredeemed Crafter Cape codes have been disabled, but the official redemption deadline has passed.45:T1348, <a
