Umamusume’s Gold Ship is so popular his farm has suspended weekend visits indefinitely

Umamusume fans will have a harder time visiting Gold Ship, as the farm where he lives has made major changes to when you can go and see him.

Big Red Farm announced that Umamusume and racehorse fans will no longer be able to see Gold Ship on weekends and public holidays.

The new ban will come into effect on July 11, and there is currently no date set for when weekend pilgrimages to Gold Ship’s Hokkaido home will resume.

As for why Gold Ship fans are being restricted from paying their respects to Umamusume’s living legend, the farm says it’s down to his huge popularity.

Gold Ship farm reduces public visits “indefinitely”

In an announcement published on its website, Big Red Farm revealed that overcrowding has become a major issue and has sparked safety concerns amongst staff.

"As the number of visitors has continued to increase, there is a growing possibility that our parking facilities will exceed their capacity," reads the translated statement.

“Big Red Farm is a working breeding farm, not a tourist attraction, and we are unable to provide sufficient staff and guidance to safely manage both visitors and those working on the property. For this reason, we have decided, on short notice, to suspend visits on days when heavy crowds are expected,” the farm continued.

The farm also warned that further visitor closures could be put in place depending on crowd levels and when staff feel crowds will impact day-to-day operations. The statement then apologized to fans who had been looking forward to seeing Gold Ship, stating:

“We sincerely apologize to everyone who had already planned to visit and regret any inconvenience or disappointment this may cause. This decision has been made to prioritize the safety of our visitors and the smooth operation of the farm. We kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation.”
