Ubisoft have responded to negative Steam reviews that criticized Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced’s microtransactions.
While Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has launched to positive reviews, the $80 worth of microtransactions and DLC add-ons has led to backlash from players, and Ubisoft have been responding to the negative Steam reviews.

The reviews are full of praise for the updated graphics, combat, and controls, but while some negative reviews call out performance issues, many focus on the microtransactions. These optional cosmetics have been in Assassin's Creed since 2017's Origins, so while they weren't in the original Black Flag, they're in the remake.

"What's the point of getting the deluxe version when, immediately in game, there's $84.91 worth [of] 'DLC' that you don't own," said one review.

"Bought the Deluxe Edition for £59.99 to have £76 of extra DLC advertised to me at launch. No thanks," said another.
There are many other comments in the same vein, such as: "Bought the Deluxe Edition, foolishly thinking I’d be buying the FULL game. Here I was thinking Ubisoft had turned a new leaf, then WHAM, they hit you with over £75 worth of additional day 1 DLC."
Ubisoft respond to negative Black Flag Resynced Steam reviews
As spotted by GamesRadar, Ubisoft have been responding to negative Steam reviews, assuring players the microtransactions and DLC are entirely optional.
"We've seen your feedback since launch, and we're reading all of it. Thank you for caring this much about Black Flag Resynced," says the reply. "We want to be clear on one point: the standard edition is the full, complete experience. Every mission, every island, the full story and the complete world are all there, with nothing held back.
"The additional packs are entirely optional extras for players who want them, never a requirement to enjoy or complete the game. We'll keep listening as you play!"
Ubisoft have previously said that microtransactions in single-player games make them "more fun."46:T1
