A Twitch streamer’s birthday party descended into chaos after gunfire erupted during the celebration, leaving one of his friends dead and six others injured.
More than 300 people gathered in an open field near Morgan Hill, California, on July 25 for a birthday party held for San Jose Twitch streamer NateDeBaiits.
The event was promoted on social media and partially broadcast on Twitch. Footage from the stream captured gunshots ringing out as partygoers scrambled to escape.
NateDeBaiits was briefly banned on Twitch following the shooting, but his account has been reinstated.

According to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to Hale Avenue near Miramonte Avenue at approximately 10:16 PM following reports of intoxicated people in the street and someone throwing bottles at cars.
When officers arrived, they found hundreds of attendees fleeing the area. Seven adults had been shot, with one pronounced dead at the scene and six others transported to local hospitals.
The man killed was identified by his family as Desiderio Romero V, who was also known as Desi and Pepper.
NateDeBaiits later revealed that Romero was a former classmate and friend.
“My deepest condolences to his family and everyone who loved him,” the streamer wrote on Instagram. “This doesn’t even feel real. He was my classmate and my friend, and I am truly heartbroken.”
He also said that he never wanted the incident to happen and claimed the situation was out of his control. According to ABC7, the streamer has received death threats and plans to move away from San Jose.
