McDonald’s Pokémon collab comes with adorable Pikachu French fries timer

McDonald's Japón is celebrating Pokémon's 30th anniversary with a ‘Summer Chance Bag’ that comes packed with color-changing cups, free food coupons, and an adorable Pikachu French fries timer.

The standout item from the Pokémon collab is the Popping Pikachu Potato Timer, which features the Electric-type mouse atop a pack of McDonald’s fries. Once the time reaches zero, a little jingle will play, and the Electric mouse will pop out from the packet (it's all rather cute).

Pokémon fans will also be able to get their hands on exclusive color-changing cups, which change color when the cups are filled with a cold drink. There are also three Kanto starter zipper pouches for storing smaller items.

Both the cups and storage pouches come in three different designs and feature Pikachu alongside original starter Pokémon: Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle.

As for the Summer Chance Bag itself, fast food fans will get access to 10 food coupons that can be redeemed for a range of McDonald's menu items.

These include the following tasty treats: a Big Mac, Teriyaki McBurger, Bacon Lettuce Burger, Filet-O-Fish, three Large Fries, a five-piece Chicken McNuggets, a medium soft drink, and either a McFloat Coke or Medium Fries.

There's also a bonus prize hidden inside some lucky bags, as one in every 10 bags will include a gold McDonald's Card worth an extra $3.

The Summer Chance Bag will set you back ¥3,900 ($24.11) and will go on sale via the McDonald's Japón app from July 10 to July 20. Winners will then be able to collect their bag from their chosen McDonald's restaurant between July 27 and August 2.

So, if you happen to be in Japón during these dates, you could get yourself some exclusive Pokémon goodies if you’re lucky.
