Looksmaxxing YouTuber Connor Murphy has died after drowning in a lake in Thailand.

Murphy had grown in popularity online prior to the looksmaxxing trend, building up a following of over 2.4 million subscribers on YouTube. Looksmaxxing has taken over the fitness world since then. It is focused on maximizing physical appearance through extreme self-improvement, body modification, and cosmetic procedures.

The reported 32-year-old had recently been spending time in Thailand, renting a luxury house in the Bang Phli District of the Samut Prakan Province. However, according to Thairath News, local police were called for Murphy on July 7.

As per reports, the YouTuber and influencer was acting “erratically” near the village’s lake. One witness said that Murphy had been “rolling on the road before making gestures of praying to God,” as well as asking locals to give him a ride.

He was spotted running into the body of water before divers were called in to try and locate Murphy. 

Witnesses told the outlet that they'd seen Murphy in the water and that he’d become exhausted. He submerged under the lake as a result. They also noted that no one entered the water due to its 10-metre depth, so called for emergency services to bring divers. 

According to Thairath News, the 32-year-old’s body was found after a 30-minute-long search, around 20 meters off the shoreline. 

As per a medical autopsy on Murphy’s body, there were no signs of assault or bruising from another source, nor were any wounds found either.

Additionally, Thairath News reported that Murphy’s rented accommodation had been vandalized with paint.

The owner, a Miss View, told the outlet “she loved and cherished the house” and had “carefully” chosen who she allowed to stay there - including Murphy.

Numerous social media tributes have been paid to the fitness influencer, including a lenghty one from his friend Androgenic.

"I don't wish to emulate everything about him, but overall, Connor Murphy was one of the most interesting, intelligent and amazing guys I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. May he rest in peace," he said.
