Por qué esta historia importa ahora
It’s been a wild time for the film industry as of late, with movies produced by YouTubers skyrocketing at the box office. We’ve seen Iron Lung from Markplier gain tons of popularity, Obsession from Curry Barker , and Backrooms , which is based on the internet horror story/creepypasta. The latter was so successful that it even prompted movie execs to hunt around on Reddit for their next big film .

Well, it seems they’ve found it, with a brand new Siren Head film officially in the works, and it’s getting made by a horror icon.

As originally reported by The Hollywood Reporter , it’s been revealed that a Siren Head horror movie is in the works, with both Zach Cregger ( best known for directing Weapons ) and Brian Duffield (wrote Cocaine Bear) working on the script. The plan is for Duggield to direct, but the film will be made by Vertigo Entertainment, the production company that produced Weapons.

What’s more, the film was actually a result of a major bidding war between five major studios, and Warner Bros. Pictures picked up the rights, so it’s clear studios are battling to produce more films based on internet memes.
For those unaware of Siren Head, the meme is based on an infamous urban legend created by Canadian horror artist Trevor Henderson and depicts a huge humanoid creature with… you guessed it… sirens for a head, though it can change its head depending on the situation, with drawings of it resembling streetlights too.
The monster began popping up on the internet back in 2018 and quickly saw a ton of popularity, with fans comparing it to Slender Man and even creating a ton of video games on Roblox and otherwise.
Well, now it’s going to be a film, and Henderson has previously labelled it the “Patron Saint of Going Missing Without a Trace, of Creeping Dread, of Bad Things Coming,” so given it’s going to be a horror, we expect some kidnapping, missing people, and plenty of creepy monsters lurking in the background.
Of course, nothing regarding the plot has been revealed yet, but it seems internet horror stories are getting plenty of love from the film industry right now.
