Twitch streamer ExtraEmily has been banned from the platform after a clip showing her nearly crashing while livestreaming went viral across social media. She was unbanned approximately 24 hours later.

The incident happened during an IRL broadcast on June 28 while Emily was driving. A clip from the stream spread quickly across Reddit, X, and Instagram, prompting renewed criticism over livestreaming behind the wheel.

The incident occurred roughly one hour and 25 minutes into Emily’s livestream as she was making a left turn. A Mazda SUV approached from the opposite direction while Emily appeared to be looking at her phone rather than the road.

Moments before the vehicles could collide, Emily turned away, while the other driver honked, seemingly alerting her to the danger. No collision occurred and neither vehicle appeared to sustain any damage.
Emily immediately acknowledged the mistake during the stream.
“Oh, sorry! My bad! That was my bad. I’ve got to check my… whoopsies!”
She also thanked the other driver for honking, saying it helped prevent what could have been a much more serious accident.

Later in the broadcast, Emily explained that she had been driving with her Tesla’s Autopilot enabled before the incident but had disabled it shortly beforehand. She said she normally drives with Autopilot active and noted that they were almost at their destination.
Twitch’s Community Guidelines prohibit dangerous or distracted driving while streaming. Under the platform’s Self-Destructive Behavior policy, “operating your vehicle while interacting with your stream in a way that removes your eyes from the road or hands from controlling your vehicle” is listed as never acceptable.
The guidelines specifically identify reading chat messages or physically interacting with streaming equipment while driving as prohibited behavior.
The incident also brought renewed attention to a similar controversy from April 2025 , when Emily was suspended from Twitch for one day after another IRL stream appeared to show her running a red light while looking at her phone.
She later confirmed on Discord that the suspensión was issued for distracted driving during a livestream. The ban was subsequently lifted only a day later, but some streamers have now called for streaming while driving to be banned in general on Twitch.
