As the first gameplay of Modern Warfare 4 emerges, one expert has managed to reveal how the game’s time-to-kill compares to past CoDs.
Although most of us will have to wait until the beta on August 21 , many creators have already had hands-on time with MW4 . Gameplay has begun being posted on socials, as streamers were invited to test out the ever-changing Kill Block map .
Not only does this give us our first real glimpse at the new CoD looks and plays, but it also allows stats gurus like TheXclusiveAce to dig in and analyze the TTK.
In an upload to his channel, the YouTuber explained that despite seeing a limited selection of guns, he was able to calculate that MW4’s Assault Rifles usually take four shots to kill in their maximum damage range.
Meanwhile, two of the SMGs were five-shot kills, although the X-58 Nyx was a four-shot kill with a slower rate of fire. Then, the Type 73 and FINN LMGs took four and three shots to kill, respectively, with the latter again having a slower fire rate.
All of this adds up to Modern Warfare 4 having an average TTK that is slightly faster than Modern Warfare 3 (2023), Black Ops 6, and Black Ops 7 in all three weapon categories.
However, it isn’t as fast as the last two Infinity Ward titles, Modern Warfare 2 (2022) and Modern Warfare (2019), which were notoriously unforgiving. This may come as a shock, as it appears the devs are bringing the gunplay more in line with what we’ve seen in the last few years, rather than reverting back to the lightning-fast fights.
It’s worth keeping in mind that this is all based on a very small selection of weapons, so there’s every chance that the averages could move when the full game is out. There’s also a possibility that Infinity Ward will tweak things based on feedback.
Ultimately, we’ll have to wait until the beta to know for sure, but many fans will be happy to hear that MW4 doesn’t go back to MW2’s TTK, which was criticized for having a small skill gap. However, IW has been forced to respond to complaints about visual recoil and muzzle flash .
