Hololive VTuber Hoshimachi Suisei threw a ceremonial first pitch at a professional baseball game, while Hatsune Miku proudly cheered her on via a gigantic screen.
It’s a sentence that’s just as surreal as it sounds, but popular VTuber Hoshimachi Suisei is now the latest character to join the likes of Nintendo’s Mario in delivering a viral first pitch that has left crowds cheering.
On July 20, both Suisei and Hatsune Miku appeared on a giant TV screen before Japanese baseball teams Chiba Lotte Marines and the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks battled it out at the ZOZO Marine Stadium.
While the duo's appearance was met with cheers from the crowd, it was the popular Hololive VTuber’s first pitch throw that left pro player Shingo Ishikawa stunned.

Before taking to the mound to deliver her throw, Suisei admitted the opportunity was something she'd never imagined.
"I never thought the day would come when I'd stand on the mound in a stadium. I'll do my best to throw a blazing fastball! I'll be giving it my all to liven up the stadium, so please come and cheer with me," she said.
With some encouragement from the crowd and everyone’s favorite virtual idol, Hatsune Miku, Suisei was then wheeled onto the pitch via a portable screen. She then backed up her pregame promise by firing a strike that registered 65 mph (around 105 km/h) on the stadium’s radar gun.
Chiba Lotte Marines’ batter Shingo Ishikawa then bunted the ball and slowly walked to first base, while the stadium let out a roar of cheers and laughter. Suisei then joined Miku on the stadium's big screen to celebrate her throw and wave at fans in the crowd.
While the Hololive star’s appearance on the pitch was certainly a surprise for fans, it’s actually part of a summer campaign from confectionery and ice cream company Lotte.
So far, the cool collab has seen both Miku and Suisei appear inside a Tokyo train line and a special themed hotel room where you can relax with both virtual stars.
